T-shirt tote bag

This idea came from my friend Shannon. Shannon and I went thrifting last week and when we got to the car, she pulled out this t-shirt-turned-tote and literally stuffed it to the brim with all the things she bought. The t-shirt fabric just kept stretching and stretching. Avery has had the t-shirt shown here since fourth grade and we had just decided that it needed to be retired. It was one of her favorites so this was the perfect way to give it another life. I simply cut out the arms and neck to form the straps then turned it inside out and sewed up the bottom (twice for reinforcement). She took it to a sleep over last weekend and was able to fit everything in – clothes, pj’s, toothbrush and toothpaste, swim suit, and even a huge beach towel!

Fall is almost here and now that the kids are back in school, I have some time to go over the pictures that I took on our summer adventures. First up are these little beauties. Our trip to Pennsylvania is never complete without our daily trek to Nolt’s Bargain Barn in Martinsburg. The more you dig through the stuff, the more you find! I located a zip lock baggie full of these sweet fabrics. I think they were intended to be used in a sunbonnet sue quilt because many of them were cut into what looked like little dress shapes. The patterns and color pallets are so beautiful.
