Muir Woods

This summer on one of our camping trips, we had the opportunity to visit Muir Woods. This was the first time the kids had been and it was so wonderful to witness them discovering this breathtaking place. It is very noticeable how people seem to slow down and get quiet in the majesty of this forest including my kids who are usually pretty loud and active. There are so many perfect quotes by John Muir to describe our visit but this one sums it up well:

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
-John Muir

I am shamelessly in love with this tote. It was a super groovy baby blanket in it’s past life. And topped off with big orange rick-rack from Goodwill (99 cents), I am going to have a hard time letting this one go…

Axel and Clyde

We seriously have hundreds of pictures of these two already. It is just like when we brought babies home and couldn’t stop snapping pictures due to the major cuteness! Axel is the white and brown tabby, Clyde the brown tabby. It is so nice to have some furry, purring creatures in the house again.

This summer quite a few of my friends turned the Big Four-O. I wanted to make totes for my friends Wendy and Shannon to celebrate! I asked Wendy what she would like and she is partial to pastel colors and she likes pigs. Most of the things I needed were in my stash but when I saw the ceramic button at JoAnn, I knew that had to be the nose. Shannon requested a knitting bag. She is crazy about vintage fabrics so I pulled a few things for her to pick from. She picked the floral which was originally a table runner. I liked how the yellow looked with it so here is the result. Happy Birthday Shannon and Wendy! Welcome to the Fabulous 40’s!!

I am glad to be back! Somehow computer issues stopped the blogging then life got in the way. So much has gone on since January so I will just jump right in. I guess a good place to start would be to introduce one of the new members of our family. Her name is Farrah and she is a 1974 Airstream Landyacht. To say I like her would be an understatement. She is my new baby. I like to decorate her, wash her, and best of all go CaMpInG in her!!! We have been on four camping trips so far and look forward to many more! This summer we also added two more members to our family. Axel and Clyde are our cute and crazy kittens. They have added lots of fun and laughter to our home. I will be posting some pictures of them later. Believe me, there are no shortage of pictures of these two!!! Along with Farrah and the kittens, we went on several short trips and enjoyed the easy going summer schedule. Now, it is back to school and for me that means back to sewing. I am enjoying creating lots of totes and will be showing them at a craft fair in Aptos, CA on November 5th.
